WHAT SOME PEOPLE ONCE SAID

  • [Veil Widow Conspiracy] at Next Door @ NYTW

  • Written by Gordon Dahlquist. Directed by Aneesah Kudtarkar.

  • I played three juicy characters (Mei, Mistress, Liaison) in three different timelines (Future, Past, Present)

In Brooklyn, Xiao (Aaron Yoo) is describing to Mei (a terrific Karoline Xu) his favorite old film…[the play] has an excellent cast.
— The New York Times
Karoline Xu’s Chinese government liaison draws on [a] deep vein of extremely satisfying irony.
— Exeunt NYC
Xu is outstanding throughout, particularly as the laconic Mistress. She puts a dry spin on the words “Just…tea” that provide more pleasure than disquisitions about subjects like “valorized prurience,” no matter how packed with information they are.
— Off Off Online
(Xu, in the most impressive of her triple-dipped roles)...Yoo and Xu, each in three wide-ranging roles, are especially fun to watch.
— Curtain Up
